Getting 15mm Sci-Fi moving again

To get things moving again I’m going to finish off my Khurasan Space Demons and get back into Sci-Fi for a bit. So far I have 24 of them plus 1 “King’ finished though I may give them one more coat of varnish 24 painted and based, waiting for flock and varnish 12 on textured bases and undercoated 12 have just been attached to bases then had the bases textured. Before long I should have a fairly …

Strolling Down Ambush Alley – On Hold

Strolling Down Ambush Alley – On Hold

I had big plans for this project but as is the norm. real life intervened to stall things. Now I’m having doubts again about moderns so I’m going to put this project in mothballs until my enthusiasm for it returns. There are a shed load of Flytrap Factory Taliban ready to be varnished but they will have to wait for now.

Topiary ball foliage

Topiary ball foliage

I made a bit of a discovery in a local discount shop today. They are selling small topiary balls for £5 which are basically big balls of plastic leaves similar to artificial aquarium plants. What makes them interesting is that the plastic foliage can easily be popped off as they are grouped together with 4 stalks on a plastic base. Each group is about 20mm-25mm high as can be seen in the photo below. For …

I’m not dead yet

I’m not dead yet

Apologies to all who follow the blog, as per usual real life has taken over most of my spare time and I have neglected the little lead people. But I’m now back on the wagon, furiously varnishing just about everything I’ve painted over the past few years. I’m just lucky none of them were damaged, not a mistake I’ll be making again. I’ve also called a halt to buying any new miniatures until I can …

Power generator and some soft transport

Power generator and some soft transport

I’ve been more productive in the past few weeks than I have been for a long time. I’ve set up a painting workflow that seems to be helping me get things done. More on that in another post maybe. First off are 2 Matchbox vehicles that will act as generic soft transport. Not 100% happy with the green I’ve used, I think it’s a bit dark.   10 years ago I ordered some 6mm sci-fi …

Taking stock, a quick painting update and future plans

Taking stock, a quick painting update and future plans

It’s been a while since my last update, gaming has had to take a back seat again as real life got in the way. Last year I managed to get some minis. painted and even managed a quick game of Tomorrows War though I’ve managed to loose the pictures and notes from that. If I find them I’ll post them up. Quite a few gamers post their goals and plans for the upcoming year in …

Painted 15mm GZG NAC section

Painted 15mm GZG NAC section

For the first time in a few months I’ve managed to get some painting done, this time it’s an 8 man section of NAC marines. The camo is based on the current MTP pattern used by the British forces but has a bit of a DPM feel to it too. Not the best photos, natural light is in short supply near Glasgow at this time of the year. 🙂 This is the start of a …

WIP – A generic desert/arid compound

WIP – A generic desert/arid compound

After a fit of inspiration caused by this thread on theminiaturespage.com, I’ve managed to cobble together a generic 15mm compound based on those seen round about the Middle East. I had already started building 2 Middle Eastern type houses from 5mm foamboard so I decided to base them on a piece of polystyrene (that once supported a pizza) and add more foamboard to build a wall around it. Unfortunately when I was adding a 3rd …

15mm Poundland Treasure

15mm Poundland Treasure

While I was bored the other day I took a wander into my local Poundland and came across these Although they were mainly full of crappy plastic soldiers that aren’t any use for 15mm there were a few items in each that made them worth a gamble for £1 a go. In the military set there was a missile launcherthat could be useful as an objective, a power boat that could be used with a …

Painting update

Painting update

Just a minor update, not had too much time to devote to painting recently. I managed to get some Poundland loot in the form of 4 Matchbox M-ATVs which work out at round about the right size for 15mm. The only thing I’ve really done to them is add a Peter Pig 50 cal HMG to the turret. I’ve decided to paint them green to mane them very generic, they will be used for modern …
